Season 2, Episode 4: Terminus

Welcome back to Pledge Break, the show where two old friends talk about the Doctor Who version of history and the history of Doctor Who! This episode we’ve got early medieval inspiration, a tale of production woes and more unfulfilled potential than you can shake a stick at. Disco space pirates in bubble helmets! Drug-addict corpse knights! The universe’s most ancient radioactive dog hospital! It could only be the classic Doctor Who story Terminus! We had a grand old time with this one.

As always, you can go to the episode page here or download it directly here.

We discuss some visual influences in the episode, and here’s a great place to check them out (hat tip to Siskoid’s blog).

First up, Wayne Barlowe illustrations that might have influenced the Garm. There are many, but these are the ones we mention in particular:

This one is skinnier, but otherwise …

This one is Viking-y but not as grey.

Also, here’s the Sutton Hoo helmet to which we referred:

You see what we mean, right?
